This asynchronous NCTA short course invites participants to explore the visual arts and political culture of Socialist China (1949-1976) through propaganda posters. We will examine how these posters, as political tools, showcase a socialist utopia centered on industrialization, social equality, and an image of foreign adversaries. Apart from scrutinizing the aesthetic elements of the posters, the course will help you grasp the historical and political contexts that underpin their creation.
This short course offers teachers 4 professional development hours.
