Over the past century, China has undergone significant demographic changes and in 2023, India surpassed it as the world's most populous country. This course explores the history, motivations, and outcomes of China's population measures, and the policy shifts addressing a shrinking population. Participants will gain an understanding of China's demographic evolution, patriarchal authoritarianism, and the global implications of India's population growth.
