This five-week complimentary online seminar offers teachers a comprehensive introduction to the major social, political, economic, and cultural forces shaping contemporary China. The course explores topics such as daily life, demographic change, technology and innovation, environmental challenges, and China’s expanding global influence. Alongside building a strong foundation of knowledge, teachers will consider multiple perspectives and examine current debates that drive conversations about China today. The seminar also highlights practical strategies, classroom resources, and examples to help educators incorporate modern China into their curriculum in clear, engaging, and meaningful ways.
Reading assignments and recorded lectures for each week will be available in an online forum and are to be completed prior to the discussion sessions. Access and log-in information will be provided upon acceptance into the course.
