Continuity and Change in Japan Post-3.11

Join us in conversation with the University of Washington’s Justin Jesty, Associate Professor in Asian Languages and Literature who will introduce some of major topics and trends of the past 10 years in Japan. The 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown, and the 2021 Olympics will be major focal points. We’ll also discuss domestic and global politics and social problems like social withdrawal (hikikomori) and population aging.
