This course investigates the pedagogical practices of National Geographic, focusing on its re/presentations of East Asia. Framed by the question: What/how has National Geographic taught us about East Asia? The six-week inquiry uses the magazine and secondary sources to examine images, narratives, and historical contexts. We will also reflect on what is missing, considering how our perspectives might reveal what has been omitted in over a century of stories.
Enrollment limited to 25 teachers. Applications close on Sept. 20 or when full.
