U.S.-China Relations-20th Century: Nationalists, Communists, and U.S. Involvement

U.S.-China relations have a long and complex history but have not always been so fraught. A key to understanding current tensions is to know how we got here, and to see how issues such as trade, religion, colonialism, nationalism, and domestic pressures matter then and now. This series will explore the last 150 years, from Opium Wars to the Cold War and up to the present, through weekly one-hour webinars hosted by China experts, who will give short overviews on different topics, and then facilitate discussions about how to teach this topic in part or in whole.

Join this discussion on Nationalists, Communists, and U.S. Involvement in 20th Century China facilitated by Rana Mitter, Harvard Kennedy School S.T. Lee Professor of U.S.-Asia Relations, and explore key points, questions, and teaching approaches.
