The Art of Teaching about Asia

This 10-week seminar series is designed to equip K-12 educators with the knowledge, resources and teaching strategies to bring Asia into their classrooms in meaningful and engaging ways. Each week, participants will learn from different scholars presenting on the history, politics, and cultures of China, Japan, or Korea. This year’s series features sessions on game-based learning, teaching with graphic novels and film, and incorporating primary sources into classroom instruction. Participants will also explore topics such as the legacies of colonialism and the spread of Asian philosophical traditions across the region. Each seminar provides content and resources that can be integrated into a wide range of subjects, including social studies, history, geography, world cultures, literature, and the fine arts.
