‘The Three-Year Swim Club’ Summer Book Group

Gearing up for the Paris Olympics? Join this book group to learn about a group of kids from Maui whose dreams of competing in the 1940 Tokyo Olympics were dashed by the war. Facilitated by Michelle Kornberger, this asynchronous online book group will explore 'The Three-Year Swim Club: The Untold Story of Maui's Sugar Ditch Kids and Their Quest for Olympic Glory,' by Julie Checkoway and includes discussion and three required webinars: Thursday, July 18, 1-2pm ET, "The Phantom 1940 Tokyo Olympics", with Prof. Robin Kietlinski; Monday, July 22, 7-8pm ET, book group discussion; and July 26, 7-8pm ET, with author Julie Checkoway and Prof. Kelly Nakamura.
