This is a three-module course that explores key topics regarding women in East Asia through the lenses of history and geography. Questions the course will consider include: What was the influence of Confucius thought on the status and roles of women in China, Japan and Korea? Did either capitalist or socialist modernity liberate women in East Asia? How have changing social, economic, and political trends affected East Asian women’s parity, opportunity, and rights? The course aligns with the World History Content Standards and AP World History and World Geography Course Guidelines.
